Wood Care & Export Packaging: A B2B Buyer Guide

Why wood care instructions and export packaging protect your margin. A practical guide for importers and private-label brands.

Wood Sells on Feel — Protect It in Transit

A beautiful board that arrives cracked or moldy is a return, a bad review, and a lost account. For B2B buyers, the product is only as good as the condition it lands in. This guide covers care instructions to pass to end customers and the export packaging we use to get wood across oceans intact.

Customer-Facing Care (Put This on Your Insert)

  • Hand wash only. Never soak or dishwash — heat and steam open the grain and warp the board.
  • Oil monthly. A thin coat of food-safe mineral or beeswax oil keeps the surface from drying and cracking.
  • Dry upright. Store on edge so air reaches both faces.
  • Deodorize naturally. Halve a lemon, rub, rinse, dry — removes garlic and onion scent without chemicals.

Export Packaging That Survives the Container

Wood moves with humidity. Our standard export pack controls three variables:

  • Moisture barrier: Each unit in a PE shrink bag with a desiccant sachet for sea freight.
  • Buffer: EPE foam corners or molded pulp to absorb shock in stacked cartons.
  • Carton rating: 5-ply or 7-ply double-wall, tested to 200+ kg stack load.

Container & Climate Notes

For tropical destinations we add extra desiccant and recommend a 55–65% RH target. For EU/US big-box programs we pre-apply FBA labels and comply with ISPM-15 heat-treatment marking on any solid-wood crating.
