The best logo method depends on the product
Logo selection should follow the material, surface geometry, finish, artwork detail, color requirement, durability target and order quantity.
| Decision | Laser engraving | Screen printing |
|---|---|---|
| Appearance | Natural recessed mark with tone created by the material | Applied ink with one or more specified colors |
| Color control | Limited; contrast varies with grain and species | Better for defined brand colors, subject to ink and substrate |
| Surface | Accessible surfaces with repeatable focus and positioning | Printable shapes with suitable coating and adhesion |
| Verification | Approve depth, position and contrast variation | Approve color, adhesion, rub resistance and position |
When laser engraving works well
Laser engraving is useful for a permanent, understated mark without colored ink. Natural variation means a sample should establish an acceptable contrast range.
When screen printing works well
Screen printing can support colored branding where shape and coating are compatible. Ink system, curing, adhesion and intended contact area must be reviewed.
Sampling checklist
- Provide vector artwork and minimum line thickness.
- Specify dimensions, orientation and edge distance.
- Approve the logo on the actual material and final finish.
